Rescheduled – Tasting Montesanco with Enologist Fernando Sastre
Take a rest from the World Cup and Come and share some exciting news for Moraira and Teulada. One of our favourite wineries in Requena is Aranleon. We have been tasting their wines and cavas throughout the summer tasting experiences. Most notably Aranleon’s SOLO cava has been our biggest seller throughout the year.
We were so happy to hear from Aranleon’s enologist, Fernando Sastre that they have just taken over a large vineyard right here in Teulada where they will be producing their Montesanco wines. Not only is this a spectacular location and has a history of producing fine wines, it will also have a tasting room, a visitor center and it’s own restaurant. AND it is only 15 minutes drive from the center of Moraira. It looks like we will all be spending a great deal of time at this exciting new venue in Teulada.
Martha has been able to tour the construction and restoration of the old winery and Riurau buildings. This will be a wonderful location to visit and we see it as a major step forward in the development of Marina Alta as a destination location for wine lovers all over the world.
Bodegas Montesanco, initially named “Casa de la Viña”, was built in 1882. After years of inactivity, it was rehabilitated totally and today elaborates the ecologic wines that we will be presenting at our tasting on Friday the 2nd. of December.

The original bodega was built by Fidel García Berlanga, grandfather of a famous spanish cinema figure. In the middle of the Finca, there is a Palomar tower. The old fermentation concrete tanks are located in their basement cellar.
Fernando is truly passionate about all things related to wine and will be presenting a preview of the restored winery that will be opening its doors to guests next year. He enjoys long days in the vineyard, squeezing the grape skins with his hands right after fermentation and having long conversations about tastes and nuances of a wine. At work, always trying to find those little details than can improve a wine and the experience of drinking it!
Come and learn from the best.
