About The Wine

As its own makers explain, having a glass of André Clouet Grande Réserve Grand Cru is equivalent to the pleasure of listening to musical masterpieces. Its effervescence transports the strength of Miles Davis and the melodious swing of Frank Sinatra on the palate. A bouquet of aromas and flavors arrives like a mix of Rolling Stones, U2 and Diana Krall. The freshness and tension are felt on the taste buds with the energy of Elvis, ending with a bittersweet instrumental finale that recalls the style of the best Ibrahim Maalouf.

All André Clouet champagnes come from various plots in the village of Bouzy, all of them classified as Grand Cru.
Surface
9 hectares.
Floor
Fresh clay-calcareous soils.
Climate
Champagne vineyards are the northernmost of all the AOCs in France. The average temperature is 10.4ºC. The vines are oriented to the south and southeast to take advantage of every last ray of sun. The sunshine is mild, 1650 hours a year, of which more than a quarter is distributed between July and August. The rainfall, regularly distributed throughout the year, is 650 to 700 liters per year.
Harvest
Manual with important selection of clusters to eliminate those that have not ripened well.
Vinification
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Vinification takes place in a traditional, almost archaic winery. An old tall and vertical press achieves fine and balanced musts. The musts pass into small vats where they undergo alcoholic fermentation, between 16ºC and 18ºC, and malolactic fermentation, at 18ºC.
Aging
36 months. The aging takes place in the family’s cellars at a depth of 10 meters with manual stirring and disgorging.
