About The Wine

The Australian winemaker Chris Ringland and the Spanish José Luis Chueca have worked together to make this wine, whose name is that of the Shiraz grape backwards. Zarihs is a single-varietal Syrah aged in American oak, silky and tasty, with powerful aromas and flavors of black fruit, soft acidity and good body.

The first Syrah was planted in 2002 in the foothills of Moncayo. The vineyards were meticulously planted to take advantage of the quality of the soil, the sun and the uniqueness of the Cierzo (the strong wind that blows from the northwest on more than 200 days of the year), which ventilates the grapes from flowering to peak maturity. . The altitude of the vineyard is between 350 to 600 meters above sea level, on limestone soil, giving the Syrah a pleasant acidity.
Preparation: Maceration lasts between 4 and 5 days and total fermentation lasts 15 to 20 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 22ºC to 26ºC. 40% of the Syrah is aged in American oak barrels for 12 months, and the remaining 60% in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting note:
In color it ranges from opaque red-black to purple.
The aroma is a powerful impression of blackberries, with a touch of wood smoke and sweet vanilla.
The nose begins to open and develops notes of dark chocolate.
In the mouth the initial impact is of very good body, unctuous and with soft tannins, medium length and mild acidity.
Black fruit flavors dominate: wild blackberries and dried plums, with notes of espresso coffee.
