Albariño is a model white wine of quality, a charismatic signature Albariño, created in the Senyeras soils of the Salnés Valley, using century-old vines as proof of authenticity, and others subsequently incorporated as a result of the modernization of viticulture applied on the accredited estates that make up the family estates. Ancient know-how and meticulous production translate into a wine with a traditional style and elaborate technique that showcases the best qualities of the prized Albariño grape.

A winery with deep roots (La Casa Grande has documented estates dedicated to vineyards dating back to 1790), cautiously modernized, just enough so that, without losing its identity, Albariño reaches our palates with all its virtues. At this estate and winery, popular culture prevails, treasured by three generations currently represented by Gerardo Méndez Lázaro, a winemaker of our time, respectful of the legacy inherited, committed to the quality standards demanded by today’s wine connoisseur. Today, his children, Encarna and Manuel Méndez, continue this work with the same work philosophy and in-depth studies on how the terroir affects our flagship variety.

The family estate overlooks the Arousa Sea in the distance and even the mouth of the Pontevedra estuary. In the heart of Salnés, at the foot of A Armenteira and its monastery, the manor house houses both the home and the winery.

This label preserves the essence of the house’s old vines, in which the winemaker allows between ten and fifteen percent of the grapes to reach noble botrytis, reminiscent of the velvety Sauternes, while retaining all the varietal character of the renowned whites from the Rías Baixas D.O. This is a very limited production that varies each year depending on the harvest.
