About this wine

LES FRESES ÁMFORA 2025

A beautiful, characterful Moscatel from just up the coast in Dénia — dry, amphora-aged and utterly Mediterranean. A local treasure, and a lovely surprise for anyone who thinks Moscatel means sweet.

Les Freses is a small, passionate estate at Jesús Pobre, beneath the Montgó and a few kilometres from the sea near Dénia — built on an old strawberry farm (hence the name) and devoted to reviving the area’s historic grape, Moscatel de Alejandría. Ámfora is 100% Moscatel, aged seven months on its lees in a 350-litre clay amphora hand-thrown from the estate’s own soil. Bone-dry, mineral and thrillingly aromatic.

In the glass it is a pale, bright straw. A gorgeous, heady nose of jasmine and orange blossom with citrus, a green herbal note and a saline, sea-air lift. The palate is dry and textural, with real drive — that amphora salinity, marked fresh acidity and a long, fragrant, faintly creamy finish. Aromatic but never sweet.

Lovely with grilled fish and shellfish, ceviche, Thai and spiced dishes, or a fresh goats-cheese salad on a warm evening.

Les Freses

Les Freses is a small family estate at Jesús Pobre in the Marina Alta, beneath the Montgó and a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean, dedicated to the area’s native Moscatel de Alejandría. They farm organically and make pure, characterful dry whites — including this amphora-aged Ámfora, fermented in clay vessels made from the estate’s own earth. A true taste of the local coast.
