About The Wine

Jean Ropiteau found his trading house with his brothers-in-law. At the age of 24, this winegrower and cooper from Monthélie, whose Burgundian roots date back to the 16th century, quickly convinced himself that this means of transport would allow him to make his Burgundy wines known.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, the House has continued to grow, remaining faithful to its values. In 1940, Auguste Ropiteau bought the current Meursault cellars. The same year, he purchased a multi-crop estate at the Hospices de Beaune, for a pittance, because the time was not really conducive to the sale of wines. The success is such that the name Ropiteau has become synonymous with great Meursault. In the village cemetery, the funeral slab of Marguerite Ropiteau is engraved with these two letters: SG. For what ? Nothing more Burgundy. It means “Save the Genevrières”. This Burgundy woman fought body and soul to preserve its rank of Premier Cru in this magnificent climate.

The Pinot Noir grapes, grown in specific vineyards on clay-limestone soils, are subjected to a wide temperature range. As a result, they benefit from very favourable conditions for reaching full ripeness and expressing all the richness of the grape variety.
Origins
This range of easy-drinking wines, pays tribute to the great noble French varietals and especially to the roots of Ropiteau Frères.

Vinification and maturing
Cold maceration to begin with, then the temperature was increased slowly to 30°C. extraction by punching of the cap and pumping over the must… Pressing and blending of the free-run and press wines. Maceration with different wood-fired oak barrels brings sweetness, length, toast… One third of the wine was aged in barrels.

Martha Says...

“Easy to drink. Red fruits , light to medium body.”
