The Rótulo was born from a commitment to producing traditional wines whose freshness and lightness make them ideal food partners for any occasion. The dream to create Dão wines dates back to 2012. Since then Niepooort has been procuring vineyard blocks – including some very old sites – which express the unique character of the region. Its mountainous microclimate and granitic soils have been the birthplace of great wines for a very long time.
Dao Rótulo is made from indigenous Portuguese grape varieties (Alfrocheiro Preto, Jaén and Touriga Nacional) from the Dao wine region. The grapes are harvested at their optimal point of ripeness, that is, when they have a high degree of acidity and a balanced sugar level. After careful selection, the grapes are completely destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. This wine matures for 12 months in cement tanks before being bottled without fining or filtering.
The grapes belong to old vineyards at about 600 meters above sea level. These plots have a density of 4,500 vines per hectare.
Vines between 30 and 80 years. The soil is granite and the climate is Continental with Atlantic influence.
Manual harvest. It took place between August 25 and September 24.
Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks.
It remains for a few months in cement vats before going on the market. This wine is not aged in barrels.

| Group Coordinator. | In order to book your event we require a single coordinator of your group. As the Group Coordinator you are responsible for all communications with Martha’s Vineyard. You ensure that all group members are at least 18 years old. You will be responsible for the payment of any deposit and final payment at the event. The final payment may be split between members of your group but you take sole responsibility that the final payment is completed in full. |
| Deposit | We may require a 50% deposit of the total payable amount for your event. The balance must be paid at the event. |
| Changes to Booking | You may make changes to the number of guests in your party prior to the event provided that you do not fall below the minimum acceptable group count of 6. You must inform Martha’s Vineyard of your requested changes and receive confirmation that the changes are acceptable. Please note: You will not be able to remove guests from your party within 5 days of the event. You may add guests to your event up until 2 days prior to your event. |
| Refunds | Once you have completed your booking you may request a refund of any deposit if you cancel your booking. Please note that if you wish to cancel the booking entirely or in part less than 4 days prior to the event you will be required to pay the full price of the event. As group coordinator you are solely responsible to complete this payment on or before the date of the event. |
