The Toro wine from the Álvarez family, owner of Vega Sicilia, is one of the most affordable references of this prestigious winery group.
The 2016 vintage has a very elegant balance, fresh and silky, but at the same time precise. The result of one of the longest harvests in the history of the winery, due to climatic conditions, this harvest allowed for greater extraction during the fermentation phase.

As with all TEMPOS Vega Sicilia wines, the harvest is carried out manually in 12 kg boxes and the grapes, once placed in the winery, go through a cold chamber for 12 hours in order to preserve the fruit intensity.
The harvest took place from September 13 to October 7 (one of the longest harvests in our history) due to the low temperatures and rains in September and how the vineyard cycle had gone.
These conditions of the 2016 vintage allowed the extraction to be pushed a little further during the fermentation phase.
Apart from the selection carried out in the vineyard, a double selection is carried out in the winery. The first eliminated those clusters that could have been lost from the field and the second affects the defective berries that are in optimal clusters. A cold maceration is carried out for 5 days before fermentation, in oak wood vats.
Malolactic fermentation takes place in 100% wood. Subsequently, its passage through wood is divided between French and American oak for 12 months.
Aging for 12 months in French and American oak barrels. The aging takes place in French oak barrels (80% new) and American oak barrels (25% of the total).
Pintia is located on the banks of the Duero River, within the D.O. of Toro. The climatic conditions of extreme cold in winter and heat in summer influence its complex soils, whose main characteristic is the large number of pebbles.
For all this, it is essential to find the optimal harvest time so as not to lose either the freshness of the aromas or the acidity of the wine.
During aging, the percentage of new barrels was 80%, increasing the American oak by 5% to 25%, to provide greater density to the wine. 75% French oak is used for this aging phase.

Group Coordinator. | In order to book your event we require a single coordinator of your group. As the Group Coordinator you are responsible for all communications with Martha’s Vineyard. You ensure that all group members are at least 18 years old. You will be responsible for the payment of any deposit and final payment at the event. The final payment may be split between members of your group but you take sole responsibility that the final payment is completed in full. |
Deposit | We may require a 50% deposit of the total payable amount for your event. The balance must be paid at the event. |
Changes to Booking | You may make changes to the number of guests in your party prior to the event provided that you do not fall below the minimum acceptable group count of 6. You must inform Martha’s Vineyard of your requested changes and receive confirmation that the changes are acceptable. Please note: You will not be able to remove guests from your party within 5 days of the event. You may add guests to your event up until 2 days prior to your event. |
Refunds | Once you have completed your booking you may request a refund of any deposit if you cancel your booking. Please note that if you wish to cancel the booking entirely or in part less than 4 days prior to the event you will be required to pay the full price of the event. As group coordinator you are solely responsible to complete this payment on or before the date of the event. |
