A wine that emerged after years of tests and tastings, the first white wine from Bodegas RODA.
The orography of the Haro area is made up of small hills of vineyards cultivated in all winds. The upper parts of the slopes, heavily eroded by centuries of farming, are very poor and are not well adapted to the Tempranillo variety. In the past, these heads were used to plant white varieties, more vigorous and productive than Tempranillo. They are small areas of several hundred vines, just what the most stark soils occupy. The soils are made up of alternating sedimentary rocks of sandstone and limestone marl and in the headlands the sandstone has often been exposed. These Viuras live directly in the Tertiary soil. Along with them, loose strains of other varieties were planted, such as Malvasía de Rioja, Garnacha Blanca and some that were intended for table consumption, such as Calagraño and Moscatel, which in this case are discarded. Based on Viura and small proportions of Garnacha Blanca and Malvasía de Rioja, the must is macerated in French oak vats, and then fermented in that same vat and in bocoyes, also made of French oak. It is in the latter where RODA I Blanco is aged for 18 months, to which another 18 are added in the bottle before seeing the light.
The vines come from the heads planted in white from the old Tempranillo vineyards in the Haro area, where RODA I comes from. Manual harvesting with selection table. The maceration takes place in French oak vats. Fermentation in French oak vats and barrels
Aging for 18 months in French oak barrels and 18 months in bottle before going on the market
