Patriarch and precursor of a lineage of exceptional wines, forged over time, whose durability distinguishes them and gives them a special character. An icon of global prestige who, with effort, perseverance and discretion, has carved out the history of a myth full of truth.
It is the reference of Vega Sicilia. A wine in which the qualities of Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon are perfectly combined in different proportions. Each of them contributes, in each vintage, a differentiating element that makes it great.
The vines are grown on plots with soils located at the contact between slopes that descend from the moor and the alluvial plain.
Red wine that ferments at a controlled temperature in wooden tanks with native yeast. Malolactic fermentation is also carried out in wood.
After fermentation, it goes through what is probably the longest maturation period in the world for a red wine, almost 10 years between wood and bottle. Going through different stages in different types of barrel. French and American wood, new and used 225 liter barrels, 20,000 liter vats, each batch determines the type of wood and the permanence in each container.
After passing through wood, it ages in the bottle to complete a complex and long refining process. Under normal conditions it will spend 6 years in wood and 4 in bottle.
The different elements that participate in its production are modeled and molded in search of the master line that has guided the wine. Unico remains faithful to a clear and well-defined style, an inimitable character and style; elegance, firmness, aging capacity… A unique and timeless taste that has elevated it to the aristocracy of the great classics.
It offers an infinite complexity that is revealed little by little, in each sip, its passage through the mouth is immensely silky and elegant, and it has an aging capacity only within the reach of a few wines in the world.
Forty of these hectares are used to produce Unico whose aging, with a minimum of 10 years between wood and bottle, is one of the longest in the world. French and American wood, new and used 225 liter barrels and 20,000 liter vats. A long and complex process for a magical wine.

This wine is currently suitable for drinking, but has a cellaring potential of 40 – 60 years if kept in optimal conditions: 12-14 ºC / 54-57 ºF and 60% relative humidity. Bottled in June 2015.

Group Coordinator. | In order to book your event we require a single coordinator of your group. As the Group Coordinator you are responsible for all communications with Martha’s Vineyard. You ensure that all group members are at least 18 years old. You will be responsible for the payment of any deposit and final payment at the event. The final payment may be split between members of your group but you take sole responsibility that the final payment is completed in full. |
Deposit | We may require a 50% deposit of the total payable amount for your event. The balance must be paid at the event. |
Changes to Booking | You may make changes to the number of guests in your party prior to the event provided that you do not fall below the minimum acceptable group count of 6. You must inform Martha’s Vineyard of your requested changes and receive confirmation that the changes are acceptable. Please note: You will not be able to remove guests from your party within 5 days of the event. You may add guests to your event up until 2 days prior to your event. |
Refunds | Once you have completed your booking you may request a refund of any deposit if you cancel your booking. Please note that if you wish to cancel the booking entirely or in part less than 4 days prior to the event you will be required to pay the full price of the event. As group coordinator you are solely responsible to complete this payment on or before the date of the event. |
