About The Wine

Quintaluna 2018 expresses the freshness and genuine character of the Verdejo variety. With low yields we want to enhance concentration and varietal typicality. In its careful production, the wine has been kept in tank with its lees for about nine months along with some elaborations in foudre and barrels. A representative wine of an area. The maximum expression of ancestral Segovian Verdejo. Sands as a common thread. Selected vineyard from Segovia. Altitude and continental climate. Unctuous minerality, vibrant finesse. This is Quintaluna 2018.

An extraordinary climatic year. After an extreme weather-related 2017, 2018 favored a rapid recovery of the vineyard.  The harvest began on September 20 with optimum maturity and health and took place with warm temperatures and absence of rain until its completion on October 10.

To make Quintaluna Ossian uses grapes from a wide representation of small vineyards in several municipalities in the north of Segovia. They are planted in sandy soils. Most of them are very old, pre-phylloxera grapes, uncultivated, preserved thanks to the fact that the sandy soils prevented the attack of the plague at the end of the 19th century and, to a lesser extent.
Fermented with native yeasts. The grapes from the 2018 vintage were picked by hand. After passing through the sorting table, they were destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation took place in small stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. For nine months, the wine remained in the same tanks on its lees and other elaborations in foudre and barrel. It was bottled in August 2019.

100,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2019 after nine months with the lees, a small part with oak.

Martha Says...

“Green apples and smooth.”

Food Match

Fish, seafood and rice. It is also unique when it complements a good carpaccio of meat well marinated or with a maki or sashimi.

Meet The Winemaker

Ossiann Vines and Vinos
Ossian was founded in 2005 on absolutely exceptional vines between 100 and 200 years old. These are pre-phylloxera Verdejos, since that terroir escaped the plague due to its sandy condition.
