THE ATLANTIC SPEAKS: FIVE WINES FROM SPAIN’S WILD EDGE

If you think you know Spanish wine, think again.

This isn’t your average Rioja evening. This is Spain’s Atlantic side — wind-battered, rain-soaked, salt-kissed, and absolutely bursting with character. From the green hills of Galicia to the volcanic slopes of Lanzarote, the Atlantic doesn’t just influence these wines — it defines them.

Five extraordinary wines. Five completely different personalities. One unforgettable journey along the edge of the map.

🌊 THE LINEUP 🌊

🏔️ Goura Albariño — Rías Baixas, Galicia
The superstar of Spanish whites, and for very good reason. Albariño from Rías Baixas is mineral, elegant, and about as refreshing as diving into the Atlantic — but considerably warmer. This is where we start.

🌿 Brezo Godello — Valdeorras, Galicia
Godello is having its moment — the cooler, more contemplative cousin of Albariño. From the high vineyards of Valdeorras, Brezo brings texture, freshness, and that irresistible sense of somewhere utterly specific.

⚡ Hikka Txakoli — Basque Country
Spritzy, lively, salty, and barely 11% — Txakoli is the wine that tastes like the sea got into the bottle. The Basque Country produces it in tiny quantities, and it is absolutely delightful. Brace yourself.

🌹 Sió Negre — Bierzo
Meet Mencía — the Atlantic red grape that nobody talks about enough. From Bierzo, where ocean breezes shape a more delicate, floral profile, Sió Negre is the kind of red that makes you reconsider everything you thought you knew about Spanish reds.

🌋 Luz de Obsidiana — Lanzarote, Listán Negro
And now for the finale. Heroic viticulture on volcanic soil. Lanzarote’s vines grow in black ash craters called zocos, sheltered from the wind, staring out at the ocean. Listán Negro here is smoky, saline, and unlike anything you’ve tasted. Genuinely unforgettable.
