Wine Detectives — The Great Blind Tasting

THINK YOU CAN CRACK THE CASE?

Five glasses. Five mystery wines. Not a label in sight. Your job, detective, is to work out what’s in each glass using nothing but your nose, your palate and a healthy dose of instinct.

Every wine is a case to solve: the grape, the region, or both. The clues are all there in the glass — the colour, the aroma, the texture, that little something on the finish. Each correct call takes you one step closer to the prize.

And the best bit? Nobody knows the lineup until each wine is unmasked — one at a time, straight after you’ve tasted it. Gasps, groans and small victory dances are all fully expected.

Classified, we’re afraid. What we will say: five Spanish wines across white, rosé and red, from some of the country’s most distinctive regions — and at least one designed to send even the sharpest palate down the wrong trail. Every one is revealed only after it’s been tasted.

YOUR HOST

Sommelier Martha Ardila is your chief inspector for the evening. She’ll show you how to read a glass like a crime scene — what to look for, what to smell for, and how to trust what your palate is telling you. She runs the room like a conversation, not a lecture: she wants to hear your theories, which wines you loved and why, and she’ll ask everyone to score their favourites before the big reveal. Join in as much or as little as you like. Questions are always encouraged.
