About The Wine

Since the mid-20th century, Zárate has been a pioneer in the production of Albariño wine as it is known today. Proposals that aim to remove it from family consumption and make its character known, first in the rest of Spain and then throughout the world. Ernesto Zárate was the founder of the Cambados Albariño Festival, a competition that he would win in its first three years consecutively.

Since 2000, Eulogio Pomares has been its viticulturist oenologist. With it would come new techniques based on maximum respect for the environment and completely natural vineyard care processes.

ZARATE Albariño is a fresh, balanced and elegant wine, its minerality and natural acidity are the key elements for this balance. The ZARATE vineyards have an average age of 35 years. Care of the vineyard with environmentally friendly viticulture. Since 1994, all plots are No-Till with permanent natural cover and herbicides are not used, which increases the biodiversity of the flora. In the 2006 obtained certification for Integrated Production harvest, this cultivation system aims to produce a quality harvest, eliminate insecticides and acaricides, reducing the use of phytosanitary products, safeguard the viticultural heritage and protect the environment.
The harvest is manual and grape selection is carried out on the plot. The grapes are destemmed and subjected to gentle pressing, obtaining a low must yield. After light racking, it ferments spontaneously in a steel tank and remains on fine lees for 3 months.
Zarate Albariño is a fresh, balanced and elegant wine, in which the primary aromas of the Albariño variety stand out. In the mouth it shows vibrant acidity and on the nose fruity notes and a mineral background.
